Interested in finding more information about one of the most successful musicals of all time? Welcome to our website, where you can learn a lot of new information about Rent and listen to the most beautiful music included in it. Here is a top of the best three songs of Rent which conquered the general public (videos with lyrics provided by fans).

Number 1: Life Support

Number 2: What You Own

Number 3: Your Eyes

Unfortunately, Rent is not a happy story. The rock musical presents an insight in the lives of a group of young and poor artists that struggle to survive in New York under the threat of HIV/AIDS. The music and lyrics of Rent were written by Jonathan Larson, who had as an inspiration La Boheme, the opera of Giacomo Puccini. Unfortunately, Larson never knew that the show won a Pulitzer Prize and had a major success, as he died before the off-Broadway premiere.

Jonathan Larson died due to aortic dissection. After his death, it was discovered that the artist had the Marfan syndrome, but he was never in his life diagnosed with it. Apparently, if he would have been diagnosed and treated, he would have lived today. Unfortunately, when he went to the ER to complain about chest pains and nausea, a few days before his death, doctors misdiagnosed him and treated him of flu.

After his death, his friends, together with his family, created the Jonathan Larson Performing Arts Foundation to supportive the creative work of young artists.

Rent is a superb musical and it deserves to be seen at least once on a lifetime. The songs are magnificent and the story is baffling. It’s a pity that Larson never had the chance to know how appreciated his work was and still is.
